My Mom....My Dad....My Old People and my family touch my life everyday.
My Mom worked her hands to the bone...I remember seeing her chop trees down...pack water and then she would knit beautiful Cowichan sweaters! One of her sayings that always stays with me was when she ways talking to my four children and she said........
"When you see a falling star....it belongs to one of the angels that hit a home run!"
My Dad was a truck driver for twenty-eight years and when forced retirement was demanded he would not go to his retirement party. His childhood was very painful and lonely being that he watched his own Dad and younger brother drown. He used to say...
"I was to young to turn the motor off." As many people in their time....they suffered. In his later years I was to see a giant of a man who I could say......"He's my Dad!"One of his most touching teachings to me was...."The heart to the brain must always work together....the brain by itself becomes too smart. The heart alone floods itself with tears and drowns.
Matthew played the biggest part in my life.......Together we looked after our Mom when she was too sick to even take care of herself. He'd carry her from bedroom to living room...and when it was nice and warm outside he'd carry her outside and we'd lay her in the shade...Matthew would always say to her...""You're going to get better Mom...you can't leave the kid behind."
